Quote with ChatGPT and Knack

You copy one link from Knack, add Knack in ChatGPT Plugins, then sign in and allow the connection. The steps above show where to click. You do not need a developer tool, a token, or an API key. After connecting, select Knack in a chat and ask in your own words.

Yes. Knack is the sign-in: when you add the connector, ChatGPT sends you to Knack's own sign-in page, you press Allow there, and Knack issues ChatGPT a connection that it refreshes on its own. No token to paste.

Start in ChatGPT on the web. Some interfaces use Apps or Connectors and a developer-mode setting instead of Plugins; custom connections may be restricted by your plan or workspace administrator. Check OpenAI's current connection instructions or ask your ChatGPT workspace admin. Knack cannot enable that option for you. You can still download a working pack from a Knack job, attach it to ChatGPT yourself, and import the reply as a draft quote.

Open the Knack connection in ChatGPT Plugins and use Refresh to reload its tools. Start a new conversation and select Knack with @, then try the read-only jobs test above. If it asks you to sign in again, reconnect; if Knack refuses access, check you are still an owner or estimator and the workspace subscription is active. For an error, give Knack support the error text and the step that failed, never a token or secret. Ask Knack can guide you through setup but cannot see or operate your ChatGPT account.

This connection is for working with Knack tools in a chat; it does not provide the search and fetch tools required for ChatGPT company knowledge and deep-research compatibility. Set it up and test it on the web first. Only use it on a phone if your ChatGPT app makes the custom plugin available; access can vary by ChatGPT surface and workspace policy.

A connected AI can read this account's customers and sites, your drawings and site photos; every quote you have sent, line by line, with whether it was won; your recipes, symbol links, playbooks and templates; and your costs and margins. It can also add and correct customers and jobs, and set up and change your pricing — price-book items and their prices, your default markup and charge-out rate, recipes (including confirming their rates), symbol links, other names for items, playbooks and quote templates — when you ask it to. These are real changes, not drafts: a price it changes is what new quote lines use from then on. It can change a quote you are building, whether you built that quote or it did: the wording — the heading, the opening, your assumptions, exclusions, notes and each section's scope — and the lines, adding, changing and removing them, which changes what the quote charges; it tells you each line it added, changed or removed, and a line it removes is gone. It can see which jobs are waiting on an invoice and what each invoice would carry, and when you ask, put a job's invoice into your Xero as a draft. It never releases or emails an invoice, and it can't see whether a customer has paid. It can never delete a quote, a job or a customer, and never send a quote to your customer: you do that. Connect only tools you trust — a token or connection can be revoked at any time. It cannot see any other Knack account, and there is nothing about payments in Knack for it to read.

No. Everything it writes into Knack is a draft you read, edit and send yourself. The draft lands in the quote builder with every line still yours, and nothing reaches a customer until you press Send.
